La Palma will showcase its local agri-food sector and promote food sovereignty at the upcoming GastroCanarias event in Tenerife, aiming to connect island producers with key regional distributors and restaurateurs.

La Palma is making food sovereignty and the professionalization of its primary sector the heart of its island strategy at the upcoming GastroCanarias event. The fair, held at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Trade Fair Center from May 19 to 21, is a key benchmark for measuring how competitive local agri-food companies are within the regional market.

Under the theme "From the Root," the La Palma delegation—coordinated by the public company Sodepal and the brand Saborea La Palma—aims to do more than just showcase products. Miriam Perestelo, the Minister of Economic Promotion, explained that the goal is to use the event as a commercial platform, connecting local producers directly with distributors, restaurateurs, and the media.

Four local businesses will represent the island: Destilerías Aldea, Mi Dulce Paste, Vidaviva Ecofood, and Bruco La Palma. Their presence highlights the balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern consumer trends. This variety is essential, as the value of local products has become a major asset for the islands' tourism and hospitality industries.

Beyond tastings and culinary demonstrations, participating in this trade show is part of a broader plan to boost the international profile of the "La Palma" brand. The event serves as both a showcase for the island’s high-quality raw materials and a hub for sharing knowledge and creating business opportunities, which are vital for the growth of La Palma’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
