Tenerife is updating its action plan in case of a volcanic eruption.
In La Orotava, the authorities discussed updating the volcano eruption contingency plan to ensure the readiness of rescue services and public education.
In La Orotava, representatives of the city council and the Cabildo of Tenerife gathered yesterday to discuss an important matter: updating the emergency action plan, especially in the event of a volcanic eruption.
The mayor of the city, Francisco Linares, reassured that there is no threat at the moment, but it is better to be safe. "We want to be prepared for any eventuality, if the volcano decides to spoil our lives a little," he said.
Both the mayor and the security advisor, Narciso Pérez, emphasized that the goal is not to scare people, but to prepare in advance, so that our rescuers know what to do if something happens.
Linares added that together with the Cabildo of Tenerife, they plan to train local residents on how to behave in the event of a volcanic hazard, so that everyone knows how to protect themselves.
