La Orotava will host the Burger Fest Canarias on August 7 and 8, featuring a culinary competition, live music, and a focus on locally sourced ingredients to boost the region's hospitality sector.

La Orotava is set to host the latest stop of the Burger Fest Canarias on August 7 and 8 at the Lercaro parking lot. The event is part of a local strategy to boost the hospitality industry, support local producers, and encourage year-round tourism in the north of Tenerife.

Since its launch in 2019, the festival has held over 30 editions across the islands, attracting nearly one million visitors. This year, the focus is on combining "kilometer zero" gastronomy—using locally sourced ingredients—with live entertainment. The event is backed by the La Orotava City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, and the Comercio de Canarias brand, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in promoting regional food production.

A highlight of the Orotava edition is a blind-tasting competition to find the best burger. The top three entries will receive cash prizes of 500, 300, and 150 euros, with an additional 150-euro prize for the public’s favorite. Winners will also qualify for the regional final, scheduled for 2027 at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Exhibition Center.

The festival offers a wide variety of food, including vegan and gluten-free options, as well as artisanal pastries and drinks. A full musical lineup will run throughout the weekend. On Friday, August 7, festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with Roger S Morgan, followed by Juana La Cubana until midnight. On Saturday, August 8, the music starts at 2:00 p.m. with performances by MCR Selector, Tana Sandoval, Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto, and a closing set by La Maldita.

Mayor Francisco Linares and Councilor for Commerce Deisy Ramos noted that events like these not only attract visitors but also establish La Orotava as a key location for large-scale gatherings that celebrate culinary innovation and support local suppliers.
