The 41st Pinolere Craft Fair in La Orotava returns from September 4 to 6, celebrating Canary Islands' intangible heritage with a special focus on woodworking, local artisan exhibitions, and cultural programming.

The Pinolere Craft Fair in La Orotava continues to be a cornerstone for preserving the Canary Islands' intangible heritage. Now in its 41st year, the event will take place from September 4 to 6, with a special focus on the art of woodworking. Over the decades, the fair has transformed how people view traditional trades, growing into a major regional event that brings nearly 200 artisans together in a 3,000-square-meter ethnographic space.

The fair is much more than a market. Organized by the Pinolere Cultural Association, the event has evolved from humble beginnings into a well-established meeting point. This year, visitors can explore 164 exhibition spaces, including 40 dedicated to local food and drink. The fair will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Education and recognition remain at the heart of the program. The opening day will feature the "Cho Feriantes de Honor 2026" awards, honoring Manuel Domínguez González, the Liceo de Taoro, and Transportes Paluper. Additionally, the XXIII "Villa de La Orotava" Craft and Heritage Prize will be awarded to the San José Association and its Carpenters and Relatives Music Band. Founded in 1988, the band will be celebrated on Saturday with a tribute to Tenerife’s carpenters, alongside the launch of a new book documenting the group’s 40-year history.

The event’s cultural program includes four exhibitions covering topics such as handcrafted furniture and documentary photography of Icod de los Vinos traditions. Attendees can also participate in woodturning workshops led by José Luis Santos or enjoy a cultural exchange with Ibiza’s Colla Sa Bodega Association. Sunday’s events will highlight the "Fiesta de las Tablas" of Icod de los Vinos, featuring a tribute to José Osmundo Delgado, a guided tasting, and the premiere of a new musical piece.

La Orotava Mayor Francisco Linares highlighted the fair’s role in revitalizing local culture and noted a promising shift toward a younger generation of artisans. The City Council is currently exploring the possibility of building permanent infrastructure for the fair by late 2026, which would support more sustainable self-management. To help visitors attend, the council is providing a free, hourly bus service from Avenida Sor Soledad Cobián. Advance tickets are available at Tasca Orotava for 2.50 euros, which includes entry into several prize raffles.
