Two winning tickets sold in La Orotava, Tenerife, secured a combined 72,000 euros in the latest National Lottery draw held on April 4.

Tenerife struck lucky again this past Saturday, April 4, following the latest National Lottery draw. According to Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (LAE), the island received a 72,000-euro boost, split between the draw's first and second prizes.

All the winning tickets were sold in the municipality of La Orotava. The first prize of 60,000 euros, for the number 11711, was sold at a shop on 74 Carretera General. The second prize of 12,000 euros, for the number 20744, was purchased at a lottery outlet on 15 El Calvario Street. While the first prize was won by people across the country, La Orotava was one of the key spots where winning tickets were sold.

These wins highlight the ongoing importance of local lottery shops to the islands, even as more people move to buying tickets online. While the state lottery now offers digital tickets—which offer the same odds and prizes as paper ones—many people still prefer the tradition of buying in person. Unlike digital tickets, where winnings are automatically deposited into an account, a paper ticket must be kept safe to claim the prize, a process that remains the standard for most players in Spain.

The National Lottery remains one of the country's most popular games. Its prize structure includes not only the top awards but also smaller payouts for near-misses and matching numbers, helping to spread winnings across a wide range of people.
