La Orotava is getting ready to host the final of the 32nd Northern Murgas Contest. This event is a big part of Canarian culture, known for its lively social commentary and humor.

Six groups have been chosen to compete for the top prize, after an initial round where eleven groups performed. The finalists are: Trinkosos (from La Orotava), Chaladas and Deslenguadas (both from Icod de los Vinos), Irónicos (from Los Realejos), Ferrusquentos (from Garachico), and Tras con Tras (from Santa Cruz de Tenerife). These groups will compete for first prize, as decided by the Interpretation jury. This contest is important because it uses clever humor and satire to talk about local issues and observations, making it a key part of the Carnival celebrations in the region.

The final will be held this Saturday at La Orotava's murga venue, located on the esplanade next to the Quinto Centenario, starting at 8:30 PM. A large crowd is expected, as the venue can hold about 1,300 people. Tickets cost 7 euros and go on sale this Thursday, February 5th, on the Tickety platform. You can buy them directly at https://tickety.es/grouping.../concurso-de-murgas-del-norte.

Excitement for the final was already high when the finalists were announced. That event, also held at the Orotava venue, drew a big crowd who eagerly awaited each name. While the jury made their decisions, the group Nueva Línea performed, keeping the festive mood going until the results were revealed.
