La Orotava City Council has launched a Father's Day 2026 campaign, running from March 13-19, offering local cheese to customers spending €30 or more at participating shops to boost local commerce and strengthen ties with the agricultural sector.

The La Orotava City Council, through its Commerce Department and the "Saborea La Orotava" food brand, has launched a special campaign for Father's Day 2026. This initiative will run from March 13 to 19. It has two main goals: to boost local businesses and to strengthen ties with the area's farming and agricultural sector.

The promotion, called "Hugs worthy of Dad," will reward customers who spend 30 euros or more at participating shops. They will receive a piece of smoked semi-cured cheese, courtesy of Quesería de Benijos. This local company is a key part of the Valley's agricultural economy, directly supporting over thirty livestock farms. This highlights how the campaign directly benefits the local economy.

To get your free cheese, you need to show your purchase receipts at a wooden booth. This booth is located on the bridge of Carrera Escultor Estévez street. You can pick up your gift from Monday to Friday, between 10 AM and 1 PM, and again from 5 PM to 8 PM. On Saturdays, it's only open in the mornings. The booth is closed on Sundays, and the offer is valid only while supplies last. Please note that this promotion does not include all types of businesses. It excludes food stores, large supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, restaurants, bars, hairdressers, lottery and betting shops, service companies, and construction material suppliers. The campaign aims to support a specific part of the retail sector.

Deisy Ramos, the councilor for the area, highlighted the importance of these actions for boosting the local economy. Mayor Francisco Linares explained that this campaign is part of a well-established plan to revitalize commerce. This plan encourages responsible consumption and aims to strengthen the connection between local businesses, traditions, and local products. The city council emphasizes that every purchase made in the Open Commercial Zone directly helps La Orotava's economic development and preserves local jobs. This reinforces the council's commitment to local businesses and the primary sector.
