Two new recreation areas will appear in La Laguna

Two new squares will appear in La Laguna! One will be made on Camino Tornero – local residents have been waiting for this for a long time. The other will be in the Vistabella area.

Local authorities have already approved documents for the tender for the development of projects for these squares: El Tornero and Sor Ángela de la Cruz. More than 71,000 euros will be allocated for this. Most of the money will go to the El Tornero square (about 60,000 euros), and the rest to Sor Ángela de la Cruz.

According to representatives of the Department of Works and Infrastructure, these squares will become a great place for recreation and entertainment.

There will be everything you need: lighting, internet, electricity, water, sewerage and even an irrigation system. Of course, there will be comfortable benches, bins and other urban equipment. Everything will be selected so that the squares meet the needs of local residents as much as possible.

Ángel Chinea, the councillor responsible for this area, noted that the new squares are part of the La Laguna government's plan to improve public spaces. He added that in the case of Camino Tornero, this is a response to a long-standing request from residents, which was difficult to implement due to urban planning nuances.

It is planned that the project will take about a month to develop. Then it will be shown to local residents. After discussions, the project will be finalised and work will begin.

The El Tornero square will be located near house number 84 on the road of the same name. It will be built together with the road that will connect Camino Tornero with Aceviño Street. The total area of the project is about 4,000 square metres. There will be a road, a playground and recreation areas.

The square is planned to host various events, as well as provide places for recreation. There will definitely be a sports ground, an inclusive playground and exercise equipment for the elderly. This will complement the services already provided by the San Benito Park and Sports Complex, which is located nearby.

The Sor Ángela de la Cruz square will be located near house number 1 on the street of the same name in the Vistabella area. Currently, it is partially a parking lot. The area of the future recreation area is about 586 square metres.

Here, it is planned to combine green spaces with comfortable street furniture. The square will be a place to relax, as well as to hold children's entertainment. Perhaps there will be exercise equipment, equipment for pets or something else – this will be decided during the development of the project.
