La Laguna has been named the top choice for residents seeking a high quality of life in Tenerife, praised for its accessible services, cultural significance, and local atmosphere over tourist-centric areas, despite rising property prices.

Finding the perfect place to buy or rent a home isn't easy. Everyone wants a location that fits their needs, tastes, and, most importantly, their budget. Where you live can significantly impact your life, so making the right choice is crucial.

Tenerife offers a variety of areas, much like its diverse landscape. To find the best spots to settle down and neighbourhoods that offer a great quality of life, it's helpful to hear from the people who live there.

Real estate expert Mariela González (@marielagonzalezrealtor1) asked residents across the island about their top living choices. A clear favourite emerged, praised for its excellent, accessible services, good schools, hospitals, and overall high quality of life.

The majority of people surveyed by Mariela González chose La Laguna. This area stood out because most participants mentioned its wide range of services, excellent quality of life, and pleasant climate. Many residents also highlighted its convenience, with one person saying it "has everything." La Laguna provides a wealth of educational, administrative, healthcare, and commercial facilities, and is well-connected to the rest of the island.

Some also appreciate its cultural significance, with one resident stating, "I really like La Laguna because it is a historic city." However, what many value most is that La Laguna is geared towards residents, unlike the more tourist-focused south of Tenerife. As one interviewee put it, "For me, places like La Laguna and Santa Cruz are better because the south is more concentrated with tourism."

Even those who weren't born in La Laguna have chosen it for its balance. "I'm from La Palma, but I live in La Laguna," shared a resident who prefers its atmosphere and services.

As more people look to buy homes in La Laguna, property prices are increasing. Data from Idealista.com shows that the price per square meter has risen by 23.3% in the past year, reaching €2,092/m². Despite this increase, it's still less expensive than other parts of Tenerife, such as Puerto de la Cruz (€3,332/m²) or the capital, Santa Cruz (€2,498/m²).

The average price per square meter for the province is €3,295/m², which is higher than La Laguna's prices. This makes La Laguna one of the most affordable options for homebuyers in the entire province, currently ranking as the fifth most affordable area to purchase property.

While La Laguna was the most popular choice, with six people favouring it, other areas were also recommended. Some suggested Bajamar, noting its coastal location and peaceful atmosphere. "Bajamar, next to the sea, is a very good area to live in," commented one resident.

For those seeking a warmer climate and seaside living, Radazul and Tabaiba were mentioned as good options. Candelaria and La Caletilla were also highlighted for their quiet lifestyle and good transport links.

Ultimately, La Laguna stands out for its blend of history, services, moderate climate, cultural attractions, and local feel. For many residents, this combination makes it an ideal place to call home.
