La Laguna to Invest €1 Million in New Social and Healthcare Facility
La Laguna City Council has announced a €1 million investment to renovate the former coach houses on Calle Marqués de Celada into a modern social and healthcare facility, with construction slated for 2027.
La Laguna City Council has announced a €1,003,830 investment to renovate the former coach houses on Calle Marqués de Celada. The goal is to transform the 1,198-square-meter property into a new social and healthcare facility to better serve the growing needs of the local community.
The project, a joint effort between the Social Welfare, Works, and Infrastructure departments, aims to bring an underutilized building back into service. The council plans to open the bidding process before the end of this year, with renovations scheduled for 2027. The construction work is expected to take six months to complete.
The building’s design will divide the space to serve two main purposes. The ground floor will feature two areas of over 200 square meters each, dedicated to physiotherapy and rehabilitation, complete with consultation rooms and waiting areas. The 600-square-meter upper floor will serve as the new headquarters for the Padre Anchieta Senior Citizens Association. This level will include an 80-person assembly hall, a gym, training classrooms, and administrative offices.
In addition to reconfiguring the layout, the renovation will fix structural issues, upgrade technical systems, and remove architectural barriers to ensure the building is fully accessible. This project is part of a broader municipal strategy to decentralize social services, bringing essential resources for the elderly and vulnerable groups together in one efficient, modern location.
