The city of La Laguna will host the first European edition of the Puerto Rican digital platform Sesiones Desde La Loma on June 20th, featuring a collaborative concert that unites international salsa stars with local Canary Islands talent.

La Laguna is set to host a major milestone for contemporary tropical music. On June 20th, the Tenerife city will welcome the first European edition of Sesiones Desde La Loma, a popular Puerto Rican digital platform that has become a global leader in salsa. The event will take place at the Plaza del Cristo as part of the 10th La Laguna Latin Festival, organized by the City Council’s Autonomous Body for Musical Activities and the production company Orilla Cultural.

More than just a concert, this event serves as an audiovisual recording platform designed to showcase Canary Islands culture to an international audience. Led by musician Norberto Vélez—who has over 840,000 YouTube subscribers—the project connects the island to a global circuit that already includes the United States, Peru, and Puerto Rico. This free event highlights the historic ties between the archipelago and the Caribbean.

The concert, titled Sesiones desde La Loma-Pa’ La Laguna, is designed as a collaborative artistic dialogue rather than a series of individual performances. Norberto Vélez and his band, El Escuadrón de La Loma, will back a lineup of international stars, including Jeremy Bosch, Jota Ruiz, Anaé, Carlos García, and Ronald Borjas. They will be joined by Cuban artist Alain Pérez and his orchestra, as well as local musician Sergio Tejera, who will perform a set dedicated to romantic salsa and the music of legends like Frankie Ruiz and Willie Colón.

With additional sets from DJs José Brito and Julián Hernández, along with performances by local dance academies, the event highlights how digital platforms can revitalize traditional genres like bolero and merengue. By pairing local talent with international stars in a high-quality production, La Laguna aims to establish itself as a key hub for the global Latin music scene.
