La Laguna will host the "Cañas & Camarones" festival in Bajamar on July 11, 2026, featuring local seafood, live music, and a market to boost regional economic growth and celebrate Canary Islands culinary culture.

Food festivals are becoming a key engine for economic growth along the Canary Islands coast, and this year, La Laguna is reaching a new milestone. The municipality is preparing to host the "Cañas & Camarones" event in Bajamar on July 11, 2026, bringing together local farmers, restaurants, and tourists to celebrate the region's culinary culture.

Organizers plan to serve 1,000 kilograms of shrimp, which is expected to yield around 10,000 portions. Beyond tourism, the event—supported by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Tenerife—aims to highlight the importance of local produce and the hard work of regional fishing guilds. The date has been moved up this year to coincide with peak fishing seasons, ensuring the highest quality product for visitors.

The event will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. near the natural swimming pools. It offers much more than just food; the day will feature a market with thirteen local businesses and a lineup of six musical performances. Island authorities view this as a model for sustainable and competitive coastal development.

From an economic standpoint, the initiative aims to diversify leisure activities in La Laguna, a destination that has been recognized for its tourism appeal for 60 years. By coordinating with professional event managers like Marcha Go, the public sector hopes to boost local commerce and ensure that nearby businesses directly benefit from the influx of visitors.
