La Laguna City Council will begin a six-week stabilization project on the El Rosarito road on April 6 to prevent landslides and reopen restricted public areas.

Road safety and infrastructure repairs are back on the agenda in La Laguna. The City Council has announced that work to stabilize the slope on the El Rosarito road, in the Valle Tabares area, will begin on Monday, April 6. The project aims to prevent landslides caused by recent unstable weather.

The work is expected to take about six weeks. The goal is to reopen public areas that are currently closed for safety, specifically the parking lot and the area surrounding the funeral home near the La Ratona Neighborhood Association. Ángel Chinea, the Councilor for Works, Infrastructure, and Accessibility, explained that the project will use the same methods and local resources recently applied to the Camino de La Degollada.

The project will be carried out in two stages. First, the parking lot will be fully closed to allow for material storage and heavy machinery access while crews install containment mesh and anchor bolts. Once this is finished, the parking area will partially reopen while workers focus on ground consolidation and installing protective barriers to catch falling debris.

This project follows a €400,000 investment the City Council has already spent on renovating this road during the current term, reflecting the ongoing need to maintain infrastructure in an area prone to erosion.

To minimize disruption, the City Council has set up channels for residents to ask questions or report issues. You can call 689 502 512 or email incidenciasviaslalaguna@vias.es. Authorities are asking drivers to exercise caution, follow all temporary signage, and obey instructions from construction staff while the work is in progress.
