The La Laguna City Council will begin a three-week repaving project on Trinidad Avenue in late July, utilizing a phased construction schedule to minimize traffic disruption in the historic center.

La Trinidad Avenue, a key traffic route in the historic center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, is set for a major repaving and improvement project. The La Laguna City Council announced that the work will begin in the second half of July and is expected to last three weeks. The project aims to repair the road surface, which has deteriorated significantly due to heavy daily traffic and recent severe weather.

The Department of Works, Infrastructure, and Accessibility has scheduled the repairs for the summer to minimize disruption. With schools closed and many people on vacation, traffic is lighter, making this the ideal time for construction. The timeline has also been carefully planned to ensure the work does not interfere with the San Benito Abad Regional Pilgrimage on July 12.

To keep the city moving, the Council will use a phased approach, combining daytime and nighttime work depending on the specific needs of each section. The project requires close coordination with the Canary Islands Health Service, the local bus company (Titsa), and the tram operator (Metropolitano de Tenerife), and will be integrated with ongoing paving work at the Padre Anchieta roundabout.

The local government is committed to keeping residents and business owners informed. Before construction starts, the Council will share details on traffic detours, work schedules, and how to report any issues. They have also arranged meetings with local business owners and the managers of the avenue’s public parking lot to ensure operations can continue as smoothly as possible during the project.
