La Laguna Starts Bajamar Road Repairs Tuesday
La Laguna City Council will begin five-day road repairs on Avenida El Sol in Bajamar this Tuesday, rerouting traffic due to the street's poor condition and importance for coastal access.
Starting this Tuesday, La Laguna City Council will begin road repairs on Avenida El Sol in Bajamar. This road is very important for the coastal area, as it leads to the natural pools and the beach. Even though it's only one lane, many cars use it every day, especially on weekends and holidays.
Ángel Chinea, the La Laguna Councilor for Public Works, Infrastructure, and Accessibility, said that fixing this road was a top priority. He explained that the road surface was in bad shape, which made it unsafe for a street that is always busy.
The road is about 450 meters long. It connects the main road, TF-13, to Avenida Gran Poder. It runs downhill along the coast to the San Juan ravine parking area. This street also provides access to homes, apartments, and a senior living facility. It has one lane for traffic and one for parking.
The repair work will take five days. During this time, traffic will be rerouted to reach the coast. Avenida del Gran Poder will temporarily become a two-way street. This means that cars will not be allowed to park perpendicularly on the left side, as they usually do.
Ángel Chinea also mentioned that the City Council has more plans for Bajamar in the coming months. They will work on a section of the street that crosses Avenida El Sol. They will also remove the old sidewalk on Cornisa Achimencey to replace it and add outdoor fitness equipment and street furniture. Additionally, repairs will start this month on Paseo Manianne, which was badly damaged by recent storms and the sea.
The Public Works Department of La Laguna City Council asks residents to cooperate fully so the work can go smoothly. Please pay close attention to road signs and follow the instructions of the workers. If there are any changes to garage access in the area, the construction company will let residents know as the work progresses.
