La Laguna's La Noche en Blanco Kicks Off with 20% Sales Jump
La Laguna's "La Noche en Blanco 2025" event saw a 20% jump in city center sales and attracted 20,000 visitors in its initial hours, marking a successful start to the Christmas shopping season with diverse activities and extended public transport.
La Laguna's Mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and Commerce Councillor, Estefanía Díaz, shared an early look at how the daytime part of "La Noche en Blanco 2025" went on Saturday afternoon. This big shopping and festival event kicks off the Christmas season in the town.
Speaking to the press, Mayor Gutiérrez pointed to figures from the La Laguna Zona Comercial association. These showed that sales in shops in the city center jumped by as much as 20% compared to a typical shopping day at this time of year.
"This number is important," Mayor Gutiérrez said, "because it proves our City Council's big effort to bring life back to our city and boost its businesses has been a success." He also highlighted the large crowds, noting, "about 20,000 people arrived in the first few hours of La Noche en Blanco, and that number will grow. We ask everyone to continue enjoying the event smoothly."
Councillor Estefanía Díaz added that "La Noche en Blanco is going very well." She explained, "We've set up different areas, not just in the historic center, but also in quieter spots for families to enjoy a unique experience." Examples include Plaza Secundino Delgado, the old Santo Domingo convent (where 8,000 people visited the 'Una Ciudad de Cuentos' project), and Camino Largo, which hosted the 'Canary Market Place' all day.
Another positive point was that there were no problems during the day, which had a festive and busy atmosphere. The event was still only halfway through, with most visitors expected later in the afternoon and evening. To handle this, public transport services from both Titsa and Tranvía de Tenerife were increased.
As the day progressed, family, community, and sports activities made way for stage shows and the main musical program. This included a comedy series in Plaza Doctor Olivera, featuring Carmen Cabeza, Yanely Hernández, and La Chirichota. There were also performances by the mime and clown company Karkocha at the corner of Obispo Rey Redondo and Juan de Vera streets.
Throughout the evening and night, concerts were held at various locations. Los Sabandeños performed at the Leal Theater. The Orfeón La Paz hosted its own Orquesta de Pulso y Púa, followed by Rondalla Real Hespérides, and the tuna group from the ULL Faculty of Economics and Business. Eumir Alcántara Torres and Luis Cuán & L.C. Proyecto took the stage in Plaza del Adelantado. Other musical acts could be found at Plaza Hermano Ramón (with Marilia Monzón and Jela), La Concepción tower (featuring Kilombo improvisado, Agua del Chorro, and Kumbia Boruka), and Plaza de la Junta Suprema (hosting Pickin Boppers, Los Magnéticos, and Mike Sánchez).
The most anticipated music, however, was on the stage in Plaza del Cristo, with performances by Fran Baraja, Muchachito Bombo Infierno, and the legendary group Seguridad Social, who played until after midnight.
The music was set to continue until dawn on the stage in Plaza Víctor Zurita del Cuadrilátero, featuring a lineup of deejays including Bliss Akadebellaka, Supreme, El Ima, Soge Culebra, and Nico Kalitovics.
