Rock climbing walls are being installed in La Laguna schools to encourage children to participate in sports.
In La Laguna, kindergartens and elementary schools are being equipped with climbing walls for 18,000 euros to encourage children to engage in sports and a healthy lifestyle.
In the city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a decision was made to encourage children to participate in sports. Local authorities, together with the Department of Education and Youth, have come up with an interesting initiative for kindergartens and primary schools.
Now, small climbing walls are being installed in schools so that children can play and develop physically. The city has invested about 18,000 euros in this because it wants children to grow up healthy.
The head of the city's sports organization, Badel Albelo, says that everyone liked the idea very much, and specialists are already checking where it is best to install the walls.
The city councilor for sports added that thanks to these walls, children will get used to a healthy lifestyle from an early age. They want sports to be a place for children to learn new things, make friends, and become more confident. And that in every school, children can actively move, play and learn.
And the Councilor for Education and Youth, Sergio Eiroa, emphasized that climbing walls are a great way to get young people interested in sports. This will help them grow up healthy and well-rounded.
The first climbing wall is already in the CEIP Punta del Hidalgo school. Soon, the same ones will appear in CEIP Camino de la Villa and CEIP Clorinda Salazar. At first, they will be installed in those schools where there is space for this. And in those where something needs to be rebuilt, it will be done a little later.
Many schools have already applied to the city council to participate in the project as well. Experts are checking whether the premises are suitable to ensure the safety of children. And the walls near the climbing wall are planned to be painted with bright drawings.
Climbing is good for children because it helps develop coordination, strength, agility and thinking skills. It also helps to overcome fear, become more confident and find a common language with others.
The La Laguna City Council wants children to lead an active lifestyle and be interested in various sports from an early age.
