The "Punta del Hidalgo" campsite in La Laguna reopens after refurbishment
The "Punta del Hidalgo" campsite in La Laguna is reopening daily after renovations and the introduction of online booking.
The "Punta del Hidalgo" campsite in the town of La Laguna is reopening this Wednesday.
It has been closed for some time due to changes in the management system and various improvements. Now the campsite is once again welcoming tourists with tents and camper vans. And, unlike in the past, it will be open every day, not just on weekends.
Local councilor Ángel Chinea said that work is still underway at the campsite, especially in the main building. There are some issues, but everything necessary has been done to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.
Previously, the campsite was only open on weekends and was managed by city council employees.
But more and more people want to stay there, so it was decided to improve the conditions and service to make the campsite similar to other such places.
To this end, funding was increased, more staff were hired (now the administrator is on site from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), an access control system was installed, and online booking and payment were made available.
From this Monday, you can already book a place on the website camping.lalaguna.es/.
"It was a long process, which is why the campsite did not open in the summer as we had planned. But it is a very popular place," says Ángel Chinea, thanking everyone for their patience.
He assures that the improvements will be immediately noticeable.
The rules for using the campsite remain the same, as do the prices.
After the opening, there are plans to develop new rules to make everything even better.
They will also tidy up the parking lot near the campsite (which has 78 spaces). Payment machines, barriers and a support service will be installed there.
A lot has already been done at the campsite in the summer: a new staff booth was built, the fire system was checked, and water, electricity and internet were connected.
In addition, the city council is working on repairing the main building, which has been temporarily closed due to problems.
And by 2026, there are plans to make the bathrooms accessible to people with disabilities.
The "Punta del Hidalgo" campsite covers a large area of 24,000 square meters. It is divided into two zones: the upper part has 15 tent pitches, and the lower part has 63 pitches for camper vans and mobile homes. In total, it can accommodate about 312 people.
