La Laguna Reopens Renovated Villa Hilaria Playground
The City Council of La Laguna has officially reopened the renovated Villa Hilaria playground, featuring new inclusive equipment and safety upgrades as part of a broader municipal initiative to modernize public spaces.
The Villa Hilaria playground in La Laguna has officially reopened following a recent renovation. This project is part of a wider municipal plan to modernize public facilities across Tenerife. The City Council confirmed that the new 120-square-meter space is specifically designed for children aged six to 14.
The renovation was carried out in response to requests from local residents. The work focused on preparing the ground and installing a new, durable foundation. To ensure safety and accessibility, the council installed impact-absorbing flooring that meets current regulations. The playground now features a variety of equipment, including climbing structures, slides, interactive panels, and towers, all designed to be inclusive for all children.
Fran Hernández, the Councilor for Municipal Services, emphasized that these improvements do more than just upgrade infrastructure; they help strengthen community ties and social connection within the neighborhood. In addition to the play area, a new concrete platform was built to improve access and better integrate the playground into the surrounding urban layout.
This initiative reflects a growing trend among Spanish municipalities to prioritize public spaces as centers for social interaction. By investing in these facilities, local authorities aim to balance the modernization of essential services with the creation of safe environments, ultimately improving the quality of life for families in busy residential areas.
