La Laguna City Council is celebrating Valentine's Day by promoting personal well-being and local commerce through a campaign that includes distributing heart-shaped stress balls.

La Laguna city council is celebrating Valentine's Day differently this year. Instead of the usual traditions, they're focusing on personal well-being and supporting local shops.

The council announced this new approach through a campaign called 'This Valentine's Day, love yourself. Local commerce helps you.' It aims to connect looking after yourself with helping the local economy.

Estefanía Díaz, the Councillor for Commerce, stressed how important local shops are for people's everyday well-being. The council believes that shopping locally is a way to look after yourself and help the environment. This idea aims to move away from the pressure to buy lots of things for Valentine's Day. Instead, it promotes a simpler, more inclusive celebration that reflects the town's true spirit.

As a key part of this plan, thousands of heart-shaped stress balls will be given out in different parts of the town, including the historic center, La Cuesta, Tejina, and Valle Guerra. This street event aims to create positive interactions with local businesses and strengthen the connection between residents and their local shops.

The campaign will run across La Laguna's main shopping areas and be widely promoted through various channels. Through this initiative, the City Council's Department of Commerce aims to boost the local economy and build a stronger sense of community around the town's businesses.
