La Laguna Rally Targets National Championship Status as Lukyanuk Joins Star-Studded Field

The 12th Rally Ciudad de La Laguna – Trofeo Worten, taking place on July 17 and 18, 2026, marks a major milestone for motorsport in the Canary Islands. Organizers see the event as more than just the midpoint of the Canary Islands Asphalt Rally Championship (CCRA); it has become a vital testing ground for both national and international competition. By joining the International Iberian Rally Trophy and operating under the supervision of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, the rally aims to secure a spot on the prestigious Spanish Asphalt Rally Championship (CERA) calendar.

The event has already proven to be a success, with organizers Sport Eventos Tenerife confirming over 120 entries. This high turnout highlights the rally’s importance, drawing in both seasoned professionals and rising stars. Fans are particularly excited for the showdown between two-time European champion Alexey Lukyanuk—making his island debut with co-driver Yury Kulikov in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2—and current regional leaders Enrique Cruz and Yeray Mujica, who will be racing a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

The schedule is designed to keep fans engaged throughout the weekend. The action kicks off on Friday, July 17, at 8:25 PM from Las Quinteras, followed by two night stages: 'El Boquerón – Valle de Guerra' at 9:30 PM and 'Tejina – El Socorro' at 10:00 PM. The competition continues on Saturday with seven more stages, concluding with the awards ceremony at the Las Quinteras parking lot at 7:00 PM.
