La Laguna City Council is offering a 5% tax discount to residents who automate their payments via direct debit, with the new waste tax now included in the program.

La Laguna City Council is continuing its tax incentive program to encourage residents to automate their tax payments. By setting up direct debits, taxpayers can receive a 5% discount on their total tax bills.

To qualify for this discount, you must set up your direct debit at least two months before the payment period begins. This offer applies to several local taxes, including property tax (IBI), vehicle tax (IVTM), business tax (IAE), and various public usage fees.

Finance Councilor Paqui Rivero confirmed that the new waste tax is now included in this discount program. If you already had your taxes set up for direct debit in previous years, you will continue to receive the discount automatically without needing to take any further action. For this year, the voluntary payment period runs from September 1 to November 20.

New taxpayers will receive a formal notification explaining how to pay and how to sign up for next year’s discount. Direct debits are typically processed 10 to 15 days before the payment deadline. Alternatively, residents can choose a personalized payment plan, which allows you to pay your taxes in installments without interest. Applications for these plans are open until November 1.

Automating payments helps the city manage its finances more efficiently while reducing the risk of missed payments. Residents can manage these procedures in person or through the Virtual Taxpayer Office, reflecting the city’s ongoing effort to make tax compliance easier through digital services.
