La Laguna commemorates the 300th anniversary of Baroque painter Cristóbal Hernández de Quintana's death with the #Quintana2025 project, featuring a free exhibition of 26 works at the Cayetano Gómez Felipe House Museum and guided heritage tours exploring his artistic legacy.

La Laguna is celebrating 300 years since the death of Cristóbal Hernández de Quintana, a renowned Baroque painter from the Canary Islands. To mark this occasion, a project called #Quintana2025 has been launched. It includes an exhibition, the restoration of nine of his artworks, and guided tours that explore the artist's life and impact on the region.

This initiative is a joint effort by the La Laguna City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Tenerife, and the Cayetano Gómez Felipe House Museum. It also has the support of the La Laguna Cathedral, various island parishes, and private art collectors.

The Cayetano Gómez Felipe House Museum recently unveiled the exhibition titled "Quintana in La Laguna. The Painter and His Wake in Canarian Baroque Art." The presentation was attended by the museum's director and curator, Milagros Álvarez Sosa, along with other cultural heritage officials and art historians.

The exhibition, which is free to visit until January 30th, showcases 26 works. These include paintings, painted sculptures, and historical documents, all chosen to highlight Quintana's significant artistic legacy and influence.

The artworks on display have been generously loaned by several institutions and individuals. These include the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Cayetano Gómez Felipe House Museum, LM Arte Collection, the Diocese and Cathedral of La Laguna, several churches and a monastery in La Laguna, and parishes from various towns across the island. Additionally, pieces from private collections in La Laguna and other nearby towns are featured.

Complementing the exhibition are seven free heritage tours titled "Quintana in La Laguna. The Painter in the City 300 Years Later." These guided tours began on Saturday and will continue until January. Those interested in joining a tour must register in advance by emailing info@localiando.com, as spaces are limited.
