La Laguna Market Hosts Mother’s Day Event to Boost Local Shopping
The La Laguna City Council is hosting a Mother’s Day celebration at the Plaza del Cristo municipal market this Sunday to boost local shopping and highlight the market's expanded dining and retail offerings.
Local governments are increasingly revitalizing traditional markets by hosting themed events to boost local shopping. This Sunday, the La Laguna City Council is hosting a Mother’s Day celebration at the Plaza del Cristo municipal market. According to councilor Ángel Chinea, the event aims to honor mothers while encouraging people to shop at the market.
The celebration will feature several activities, including a "Mom’s Hugs" photo booth and the distribution of flowers and personalized notes to visitors. A roaming mariachi band will also provide live music throughout the market.
Beyond the festivities, the council hopes to draw attention to the market’s wide range of fresh food and dining options. Councilor Chinea noted that the market has recently expanded its offerings, adding new stalls for natural juices, sugarcane drinks, and craft beers alongside its established restaurants and cafes.
These events are part of a broader effort to help traditional markets compete with large retail chains. By transforming the market into a social hub for special occasions, La Laguna aims to build customer loyalty by offering a shopping experience that combines high-quality local products with entertainment.
