La Laguna City Council acknowledges a court ruling that nullifies the public lighting contract awarded in April 2025, requiring them to restart the process with the next bidder.

La Laguna City Council has acknowledged a ruling regarding the contract for maintaining public lighting and electrical installations.

The Administrative Court of Public Contracts of the Canary Islands upheld an appeal by the company Effico against the original contract award from April 2025.

The City Council will now continue processing the contract file.

In 2024, the council approved the contract and opened the bidding process, with a budget of 18.7 million euros.

The initial contract, awarded in April 2025, was for four years, with a possible one-year extension. Effico appealed this decision, and the court has now ruled in their favor, nullifying the original award. The next company in line will now be asked to submit the necessary documents for the contract.
