La Laguna Launches "Youth Passport 2026" to Expand Local Cultural and Sports Access
San Cristóbal de La Laguna has launched the "Pasaporte Joven 2026" initiative, featuring over 100 cultural and sports events across the municipality to improve accessibility for youth in rural and coastal areas through October 3rd.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is expanding its youth services this September with the "Pasaporte Joven 2026" (Youth Passport 2026) initiative. The local council has launched this cultural and sports program to ensure that events reach every corner of the municipality—from the historic center to coastal and rural areas—with activities running until October 3rd.
The program features over 100 events across 63 locations, aiming to bring leisure and community activities directly into local neighborhoods. Following a successful kickoff at El Cardonal square on September 8th, the schedule is now moving toward the coast and rural districts.
Upcoming highlights include:
- Friday, September 11th: An outdoor screening of Sonic 2 at Punta del Hidalgo, starting at 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, September 12th: A fun-filled afternoon at the Valle Colino sports center with inflatables and games from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday, September 12th: The Roots & la isla music reggae festival at San Mateo square in Punta del Hidalgo, beginning at 9:30 p.m. The event will feature the band Escuela de Calor and DJ Quidoo.
By hosting these events in diverse locations, the council is working to overcome mobility barriers for young people living outside the city center. This initiative highlights a commitment to making culture, sports, and training more accessible, using public spaces to strengthen community ties across the region.
