La Laguna Launches Nativity Scene Craft Workshops to Preserve Local Traditions
La Laguna is hosting a series of free workshops at the El Tranvía Citizen Center this September to teach traditional nativity scene craftsmanship to local residents.
La Laguna is celebrating local craftsmanship this September with a new series of workshops on nativity scene making. Hosted at the El Tranvía Citizen Center, the initiative aims to preserve traditional Christmas decorative arts while teaching valuable manual skills.
Organized by the Department of Citizen Participation, the course emphasizes the importance of passing down traditional techniques to new generations. Councilor Fran Hernández highlighted that the city’s 47 citizen centers are designed to be hubs for sharing this kind of local knowledge. To ensure high-quality instruction, the workshop is limited to 15 participants, allowing for personalized guidance on figure customization.
The course will run over five days: September 10, 11, 15, 16, and 17. Each session takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The City Council will provide all necessary materials, including paints and decorations, free of charge.
