The La Laguna City Council has announced its first large-scale recruitment drive in over two decades, opening 61 positions to address staffing shortages and modernize municipal services.

La Laguna’s local government is set for a major organizational shift following the announcement of 61 new job openings. Published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), the plan marks the city’s first large-scale recruitment drive in over 20 years, aiming to end a long period of staffing stagnation.

Led by the Department of Presidency and Planning, this move addresses the urgent need to replace retiring staff and restore the operational capacity of municipal services. The initiative includes both open competitive exams and internal promotions. Additionally, Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez has introduced a reserve pool system, designed to help the council fill future vacancies quickly and avoid the administrative delays that often slow down public services.

The recruitment drive covers a wide range of roles, from specialized technical positions to administrative support staff. According to the Human Resources department, this is just the first step in a broader plan to strengthen key areas of the local government throughout the year.

For those interested in applying, the official application period will begin once the announcement is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). By modernizing its workforce, the La Laguna City Council aims to improve the stability and quality of the services it provides to the public.
