La Laguna Launches Interactive Christmas Lights Game
La Laguna City Council has launched "Lights of La Laguna," a free interactive augmented reality game guiding players through the city's Christmas lights with challenges and clues.
La Laguna City Council has launched a new interactive game called 'Lights of La Laguna.' Created by the Municipal Services Department, it lets people explore different parts of the city through challenges, clues, and augmented reality features connected to the Christmas lights.
This game offers a fun, guided tour where players activate various spots on a map using visual codes, riddles, and tests. Completing these unlocks new content and helps them move forward in the game's story.
Fran Hernández, the Councilor for Municipal Services, said the game "offers a fresh way to enjoy Christmas in our city. It brings together community involvement, helps liven things up, and is an experience everyone can access."
There are two main routes. One takes players through the historic center with challenges tied to the Christmas lights there. The other explores various parts of the city, featuring content specific to each area.
Hernández added, "We want both locals and visitors to explore La Laguna in a more interactive way. We're using the potential of our Christmas lights to create a game that encourages them to explore, discover, and share the fun with family and friends." He also mentioned that "projects like this help us create a more personal and dynamic Christmas experience, fitting with what people expect today, while still keeping the special atmosphere of La Laguna during the festive season."
Javier González, the project developer, explained that "Lights of La Laguna is designed for everyone to enjoy, no special knowledge needed. Just follow the clues, find the spots, and let the augmented reality guide you."
González highlighted that "the tour blends interactive technology with our well-known Christmas lights, making it an intuitive, educational, and fun experience for all ages." He also noted that "the game lets users uncover interesting facts and details about various places in the city in an enjoyable way, turning a simple Christmas walk into an interactive adventure."
The game is free and available now, ready to be enjoyed throughout the Christmas season. Players can pick their own route and go at their own speed, completing challenges and discovering something new at each lit-up spot in the city.
