The Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna has opened nominations for the fourth edition of the Pedro Molina Ramos Award, which honors individuals dedicated to advancing local agriculture and livestock farming.

The Economic and Social Forum (FES) of La Laguna has launched the fourth edition of the Pedro Molina Ramos Award. The initiative highlights the urgent need to protect local agriculture and livestock farming, especially as rural land faces increasing pressure and the industry seeks to attract a new generation of farmers.

Last year, the award was presented to researcher Wladimiro Rodríguez Brito. The prize continues to gain recognition as a way to honor those who keep the sector alive—a field that is vital not only to the local economy but also to the region’s cultural identity and environmental health.

The search for this year’s winner is now open until June 6. The organizers are looking for individuals who have demonstrated innovation, a commitment to environmental protection, and a positive impact on the local economy. Nominations can be submitted through the La Laguna City Council’s website or by using the official application form. The jury’s decision will be announced during the FES plenary session in June, and the award will be formally presented in July at the closing ceremony of the Tenerife Agricultural and Livestock Fair (FAGATE).

The award honors the legacy of Pedro Molina Ramos, a key figure in the development of island farming associations. Molina Ramos served as president of the Tenerife Livestock Association (AGATE) and the 'La Candelaria' Rural Cooperative, and he was the first vice president of the La Laguna Economic and Social Forum.

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, the mayor and president of the FES, stated that the award serves to celebrate the life’s work of those dedicated to agriculture and livestock. Further details on the application process and evaluation criteria can be found on the La Laguna City Council website.
