The San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Council is launching a major inspection campaign for delivery vehicles starting this Wednesday to enhance road safety by verifying compliance with driving, documentation, and vehicle regulations.

Starting this Wednesday, the San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Council will begin a major inspection campaign targeting delivery vehicles in the city. This initiative aims to improve road safety in a busy sector by checking for potential rule violations concerning driving, driver documents, and the legal status of the vehicles.

The council stated that the main goal is to prevent problems and deter rule-breaking, encouraging everyone to follow regulations without singling out any specific group. Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez explained that city deliveries were chosen because of the unique nature of the work. Delivery drivers spend many hours on public roads, and many of their vehicles are large. These factors increase the risk if rules are not followed.

Badel Albelo, the Councillor for Citizen Security, said the Local Police will check things like driver's paperwork, proper loading and unloading, correct use of safety gear, tampering with tachographs, and making sure drivers follow rules for driving and rest times. They will also check the vehicle's legal status.

If serious rule-breaking is found, the Local Police will start criminal investigations and issue administrative fines.
