La Laguna Launches Culinary Tour to Boost Northeast Region Economy
Fourteen restaurants in La Laguna’s northeast region are participating in a culinary tour from March 16 to 31, offering affordable tapa pairings to boost local businesses and promote regional produce.
Gastronomy is fueling an economic revival across the rural and coastal areas of La Laguna. Organizers have announced that the Northeast Region is bringing back its traditional culinary tour this month, aiming to boost local businesses in Tejina, Valle de Guerra, Bajamar, and Punta del Hidalgo.
From March 16 to March 31, fourteen local restaurants will offer a special tapa and drink pairing for four euros. This affordable price is designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore a variety of venues, from cozy traditional taverns to scenic spots overlooking the coast.
The event also has a digital side: customers can visit app.lalagunazonacomercial.com to vote for their favorite dish. Estefanía Díaz, the Councilor for Commerce, noted that this technology helps connect customers directly with restaurateurs, highlighting the quality of local produce and the beauty of the region.
The initiative is supported by the La Laguna City Council, the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), and the La Laguna Zona Comercial association. Leaders from these groups, including Abbas Moujir and Iván Pérez, emphasized that the event showcases the talent of local chefs while increasing foot traffic in the island's northeast.
The project is also part of the Volcanic Xperience strategy, led by GMR Canarias. CEO Juan Antonio Alonso explained that the goal is to build stronger connections between local farmers and the hospitality industry, helping people better appreciate the quality of local ingredients. Through this effort, the city hopes to boost immediate sales while building a sustainable, long-term identity for the region’s food and tourism scene.
