La Laguna Launches €250,000 Renovation of La Vega BMX Track
La Laguna has launched a €250,410 tender to renovate the La Vega Park BMX track, aiming to modernize the facility and improve safety through a four-month structural redesign.
La Laguna is moving forward with plans to modernize its urban sports facilities, starting with a major renovation of the BMX track at La Vega Park. The city council has opened the bidding process for the project, which has a budget of 250,410.38 euros. Once a contractor is selected, the work is expected to take four months to complete. Interested companies have until June 23 to submit their bids.
The renovation addresses long-standing maintenance needs at the track, which is a popular spot for riders due to its location near the historic center. The project, managed by the Departments of Works and Infrastructure and Sports, will involve a technical redesign of the track. This includes rebuilding the starting ramp and installing more durable surfaces to improve both safety and longevity.
The project also includes structural upgrades, such as reinforcing a retaining wall at one of the main turns. This reinforcement will stabilize the ground and create space for future additions, such as spectator stands and control areas, which would allow the venue to host competitive events. Additionally, the worn-out perimeter fencing will be replaced.
The Sports Department noted that the final design was shaped by feedback from local cycling clubs, riders, and technical staff. This renovation is part of a broader effort to improve outdoor sports spaces and provide athletes with facilities that meet modern standards.
