This four-year contract aims to overhaul how the city manages its public buildings, covering everything from schools and offices to protected historical sites.
Led by the Department of Works, Infrastructure, and Accessibility, this initiative marks a major shift in local policy. Instead of simply fixing things when they break, the council is moving toward a proactive, systematic maintenance model. This approach is designed to save money by preventing buildings from falling into disrepair, while ensuring that vital spaces—such as day centers, facilities for the elderly, and the local market—remain safe and fully functional.
The tender, which is open for bids until September 3rd, covers a wide range of services, including masonry, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance. The contract also sets aside a budget for emergency repairs and structural upgrades to improve accessibility and building performance.
To qualify, the winning bidder must provide a team of at least 27 professionals, including architects, specialized technicians, and administrative staff. The contract also mandates annual training for all employees to ensure they stay up to date with the latest technical standards.
By consolidating the maintenance of its public assets into one large-scale contract, La Laguna aims to modernize its infrastructure management.
