La Laguna City Council is installing its iconic 100-meter Christmas arch, featuring nearly a million LED lights, on Obispo Rey Redondo street as a key part of the city's festive preparations.

The La Laguna City Council is busy this week putting up its famous illuminated arch on Obispo Rey Redondo street, also known as La Carrera. This arch is a key part of the city's Christmas lights.

Fran Hernández, the Councilor for Municipal Services, has been overseeing the installation. He's working with technical staff and the company responsible for putting it together. The work is being done in stages to make sure everything is safe and the lights are perfectly adjusted.

The arch is over 100 meters long and uses about 15 kilometers of wiring. It's lit up by nearly a million LED lights, making it one of the most famous Christmas decorations in the Canary Islands.

Every year, thousands of people stroll through this bright corridor. It's become a popular place for people to meet up and walk through during the festive season.

Hernández mentioned that the arch "is part of the Christmas memory of many families." He stressed how important it is to maintain and assemble it correctly.

Setting up the arch involves careful tasks like fastening it securely, tightening cables, checking all connections, and doing initial tests before it's officially switched on. The councilor explained that this installation needs great precision and teamwork, involving different skilled professionals like electricians and specialized operators.

During Christmas in La Laguna, the arch is one of the most photographed spots and a big draw for both locals and tourists.

The City Council noted that putting up this arch is a major step in getting all the festive lights ready. The rest of the Christmas display will continue to be set up in the coming weeks until everything is fully operational.
