The La Laguna City Council is investing nearly 88,000 euros to install 'bio-healthy' exercise equipment in eleven municipal locations, aiming to promote health and active aging for residents of all ages.

Improving public spaces to promote health and active aging is a key goal for modern city councils. Following this idea, the La Laguna City Council has started installing 'bio-healthy' exercise equipment in eleven locations across the municipality.

This project, costing nearly 88,000 euros, aims to give residents outdoor areas where they can combine physical activity, physical recovery, and social interaction in natural settings. The equipment is designed for all ages, with a special focus on older adults. It works using body weight, so no electricity is needed, and helps improve overall fitness, mobility, coordination, and heart health.

Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez and local councilor Ángel Chinea are overseeing this work. The first phase is already complete in the metropolitan area, with equipment now in place in the Taco neighborhood (El Pilar Park, San Clemente Street square, and Los Majuelos Avenue) and in El Cardonal (Bejeque Street square). The rollout will soon expand to Los Baldíos (Camino La Frescura Park), Guajara (Avenida La Paza Park), San Miguel de Geneto Park, and the Northeast Region. Planned locations in the Northeast include Bajamar (Cornisa Achimencey), Valle de Guerra (general road park), and Punta del Hidalgo (Camino Los Corrales Park and Camino La Costa).

This initiative is part of a larger contract signed by the city council last year to update urban furniture and equipment throughout the municipality. According to city officials, the specific locations for these bio-healthy elements were chosen based on the suitability of the environment and requests from local residents.
