The La Laguna City Council has signed its first major €1.3 million, two-year contract for sound, lighting, and audiovisual services with three companies to boost transparency and efficiency in public event management across the municipality.

The La Laguna City Council has signed its first major contract for sound and lighting services. This initiative aims to make local public management more transparent and efficient.

The agreement is worth 1.3 million euros and will last for two years, with an option to extend for another two. It marks a change in the city's purchasing strategy. The main goal is to move away from smaller contracts, which often have less oversight and limit competition among companies. Instead, the city wants a more structured approach that follows public sector contract laws.

The contract was divided into three geographical areas, awarded to Sound Black Sociedad Limitada Unipersonal, Bailando Producción Sociedad Limitada, and Tenerifewebe 1998 Sociedad Limitada Unipersonal. These companies will provide sound, lighting, and audiovisual services for the many cultural, festive, and popular events held across the municipality.

Dailos González, head of the Department of Festivities, highlighted the importance of this new contracting method. He stated that it will make it easier and quicker to manage sound and lighting for events scheduled in La Laguna's six districts. It will also help the city better respond to the needs of companies, event committees, and neighborhood groups. González added that this contract will lead to more transparency, better planning, and greater effectiveness in public management, all without lowering the quality of the popular events that are so important to the community.

The contract includes installing sound equipment, video displays like screens and projectors, and lighting technology for a variety of events. These range from galas and folk festivals to conferences, presentations, talks, musical performances, concerts, and other large public gatherings. The Departments of Festivities and Culture will be the main departments to benefit from this new setup.

For the geographical breakdown:

  • Sound Black Sociedad Limitada Unipersonal will cover the north-west and Anaga area, including places like Las Mercedes, Jardina, Las Canteras, Lomo Largo, Tejina, Bajamar, Punta del Hidalgo, Valle de Guerra, El Batán, Chinamada, Las Carboneras, La Cruz Chica, and Guamasa.
