La Laguna is hosting a week-long series of educational, cultural, and advocacy events from June 16 to 21 to promote civil rights and LGBTI visibility across the Canary Islands.

La Laguna is once again positioning itself as a key center for civil rights and diversity in the Canary Islands. According to the local city council, this year’s program goes beyond simple celebrations, focusing instead on education and social advocacy, with "Espacio Diverse" serving as the main hub for all activities.

Coordinated by the Equality and LGBTI department, the initiative aims to bring visibility to the community across both the historic center and outlying districts. Running from June 16 to 21, the schedule focuses on intersectionality. Key events include discussions on asexuality, moderated by the association Diversas, and performing arts workshops led by Jessica Rojano. Those interested in the workshops can register through the organization’s website. The agenda also features dedicated sessions to discuss the transgender experience on June 18 and 20.

The artistic program reaches its peak on Friday, June 19, with a double event on the main stage. The evening begins with an institutional gala featuring performances by Lady Blue, Jesús Domingo, Dita, Zayra González, the Epsylon Ballet, and Minerva Reyes. This will be followed by a drag show starring Drag Sethlas, Drag Vulcano, Drag Perseo, Dita Dubois, Eva Harrington, and Alex Mercurio. Admission to these events is free until the venue reaches capacity.

In addition to entertainment, the program includes a cultural and political focus, such as the play Pensé que mi vida iba a ser distinta at the Teatro Unión Tejina on Saturday, June 20. The week concludes on Sunday, June 21, with a protest march starting at 11:00 a.m. on Calle Obispo Rey Redondo, ending with an information fair at the Plaza del Adelantado. Through these initiatives, the La Laguna City Council aims to boost local culture while providing a platform that strengthens support for the community across the island.
