San Cristóbal de La Laguna announced its first-ever Infinite Hell Race, an obstacle course set for November 2, attracting over 600 participants and counting towards national and European championships.

The San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Council yesterday announced the first-ever Infinite Hell Race, an obstacle course set for Sunday, November 2. The Autonomous Sports Organization (OAD) is helping to put on the event.

This new race will offer three distances: five, eight, and 12 kilometers. It's starting strong with over 600 participants, showing how popular La Laguna is as a place for sports events.

The race route will take runners through different parts of La Laguna. It begins and ends at the Francisco Peraza Stadium, passes through La Vega Park (a challenging middle section), and then heads to the trails of Mesa Mota for a natural, hilly part.

Badel Albelo, president of the OAD, said this race is more than just a physical challenge; it's a sign of what the community can achieve together. He also thanked everyone involved in organizing the event, whose hard work helps La Laguna remain a top spot for major sports competitions. Albelo encouraged local residents to come and experience this first race, cheer on the participants, and be proud of La Laguna's growing reputation as a sports hub.

Manolo Gómez, CEO of IDECO and a representative for the Cabildo de Tenerife, said the race is both an opportunity and a challenge, as the Cabildo aims to support all kinds of races. He added that this first edition hopes to become a regular event in La Laguna, a town known for its strong sports scene.

Event promoter Enrique Rosales pointed out that it's special to have OCRA Spain involved, as they don't usually back new events. But because of all the hard work and professionalism behind this race, they've chosen to support its first edition.

Isthar Hernández, the race director and representative of the Canarian League and OCRA Spain, explained that the race is designed for everyone, no matter their skill level, so even casual participants can enjoy it.

The Infinite Hell Race is a tough endurance event that combines running with natural and man-made obstacles, plus challenges that test strength, balance, hanging ability, and agility. What's more, it will count towards the Spanish and European Obstacle Race Championships, as well as the Canarian League. This will bring athletes from the Canary Islands and mainland Spain to La Laguna.

Runners can pick up their race packs on Saturday, November 1, at Decathlon La Laguna, from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00.
