La Laguna Hosts Fourth Annual Piano Day with Street Performances and Workshops
San Cristóbal de La Laguna hosts its fourth annual Piano Day this Saturday, featuring performances by professional and amateur musicians on four grand pianos placed throughout the historic city center.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is once again bringing high culture to the streets with the return of its annual Piano Day. This Saturday, the city will host its fourth edition of the event, which aims to bring music into the heart of the community by placing four grand pianos in key locations across the historic center.
Organized by the local Department of Culture and Mastecla2, the event will run continuously from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The pianos will be set up in the plazas of La Concepción, the Cathedral, Hermano Ramón, and Doctor Olivera, turning these public spaces into open stages for both professional musicians and enthusiastic amateurs.
The lineup features a diverse mix of performers, ranging from professional soloists to students from various music schools. Confirmed artists include Satomi Morimoto, Ernesto Mateo, Gino Marcelli, Rubén Zerpa, Diego Expósito, Ricardo Alonso, Antony Vallejo, Juan Carlos Martín, Argimiro Sánchez, Tamara Ascanio, Axel Afonso, Mauro Fariña, Irene Fariña, and Cristina Rodríguez.
The event also has a strong educational focus, supported by a wide network of institutions. Participants include the Professional Conservatory of Music of Tenerife, municipal schools from across the island—including La Laguna, La Orotava, Arona, Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Güímar—and several private studios such as Global Piano Studio, La Garrapatea, EMA, Pianeando Aula de Música, and Marzena Piano Suzuki Studio.
To round out the day, Alba Carracedo will lead a workshop on "emotional piano." By combining live performances with hands-on learning, the event aims to go beyond a simple concert, encouraging active participation and sharing musical knowledge with the public.
