La Laguna Hosts Fourth Annual Aguere International Music Festival
The fourth annual Aguere International Music Festival will take place in La Laguna from July 4 to 26, blending high-level chamber music performances with educational masterclasses across the city's historic architectural landmarks.
La Laguna is once again cementing its status as the heart of chamber music in the Canary Islands with the fourth annual Aguere International Music Festival. Organizers recently unveiled the program at the Teatro Leal, announcing that the event will run from July 4 to 26. More than just a series of concerts, the festival aims to revitalize the city’s historic heritage by hosting performances in architecturally significant buildings.
The festival continues to grow its international reputation, this year welcoming students from Poland, Japan, and Romania. Led by director Daniel Molina, the event balances high-quality performances with a strong educational focus. Through masterclasses, specialized instrumental courses, and the fourth International Soloist Competition, the festival has become a key meeting point for music teachers and students alike.
Supported by the La Laguna City Council and the Cabildo of Tenerife, the festival is praised for bringing culture into unique spaces like local churches and convents. Adrián del Castillo, the city’s head of Culture, highlighted the value of these venues, while island director of Culture Conrado Álvarez emphasized the importance of bringing art to areas beyond the historic city center to reach a wider audience across the island.
This approach is a deliberate part of La Laguna’s identity as a World Heritage City. By blending musical excellence with the preservation of its architectural legacy, the festival has established a successful model that combines academic rigor with the unique charm of Tenerife.
