La Laguna Hosts First European Edition of ‘Sesiones Desde La Loma’ This Saturday
La Laguna will host the first European edition of the popular digital music series Sesiones Desde La Loma this Saturday at Plaza del Cristo, featuring an international lineup of salsa and tropical music artists.
La Laguna is set to host a cultural milestone this Saturday, June 20, as it welcomes the first European edition of Sesiones Desde La Loma. Originating in Puerto Rico, this popular digital series has become a global leader in promoting tropical music. The event will take place at the Plaza del Cristo as part of the city’s tenth annual Latin Festival, thanks to a partnership between the La Laguna City Council’s musical department and local production company Orilla Cultural.
This marks the first time the project—led by musician Norberto Vélez and producer Gabriel Ramos—has filmed outside the Americas. By choosing Tenerife for this special production, titled Pa’ La Laguna, organizers hope to showcase the city to the series' 840,000 digital subscribers. The free event aims to share the island’s cultural identity with an international audience, further cementing the Canary Islands as a bridge between musical traditions on both sides of the Atlantic.
The concert will feature El Escuadrón de La Loma as the backing band for a diverse group of guest artists. The lineup includes Cuban musician Alain Pérez and his orchestra, along with performers Ronald Borjas and Jeremy Bosch. Local talent will also take the stage, featuring Jota Ruiz, Anaé, Carlos García, and Sergio Tejera, who will lead a romantic salsa set paying tribute to legends like Frankie Ruiz and Willie Colón.
The event kicks off at 8:00 p.m. with music from selectors José Brito and Julián Hernández. Throughout the night, local dance schools will join the performances to engage directly with the crowd. By bringing its unique blend of bolero, merengue, and traditional salsa to a European urban setting, Sesiones Desde La Loma continues its mission to keep these classic rhythms relevant in today’s music scene.
