La Laguna’s local business scene gets another boost this Saturday, September 12, as the Clearance Fair returns to Las Mantecas Park. Organizers say the event is designed to support shops in the La Cuesta area by combining end-of-season sales with family-friendly entertainment.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by local government and business groups, including the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA) and the La Laguna Commercial Zone (LLZC). The goal is to help small businesses compete with large retail chains and online shopping. By transforming a public park into a lively hub featuring 15 exhibitors, food trucks, and rest areas, organizers hope to reconnect residents with the shops right on their doorstep.
The fair runs from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and offers much more than just shopping. The schedule includes activities for all ages, such as giant board games, ping-pong, creative workshops, live music, and children’s entertainment. Industry leaders believe this mix of activities is essential to keep visitors engaged throughout the day, making shopping feel like a fun day out rather than a chore.
La Laguna’s Department of Commerce emphasizes that this event is a key part of their commitment to protecting local jobs and neighborhood economies. With support from both the City Council and the Island Council, the fair provides a temporary stage for small and medium-sized businesses to showcase their products, build customer loyalty, and strengthen the local commercial identity.
