La Laguna Hosts 12th Annual Reggae Can Festival
The 12th annual Reggae Can Festival returns to La Laguna from August 6 to 8, featuring a diverse lineup of international and local artists alongside a commitment to environmental sustainability and community culture.
La Laguna is once again cementing its status as the heart of Jamaican music in the Canary Islands with the 12th annual Reggae Can Festival. Taking place from August 6 to 8 between Punta del Hidalgo and Bajamar, the event is more than just a concert series; it is a cultural initiative committed to environmental sustainability and local identity, in line with the 2030 Agenda.
The festival program, announced by local officials and organizers, balances international stars with homegrown talent. The main stage performances on August 7 and 8 will feature French-Cape Verdean artist Mo’Kalamity, the group Green Valley, British artist General Levy, and singer Summer. Local artists will also take center stage, with performances by Isa Izquierdo and Dactah Chando, alongside sets from selectors Javadub, Warrior E, and Unruly Youth.
The festival kicks off on August 6 in Bajamar with a focus on sound system culture. This opening day will highlight the tradition of vinyl and musical selection, featuring Lasai, Rootikal Bass Sound System, Narfyah, Warrior E, Sister Souto, and the B Side Room collective.
The event is free to the public until capacity is reached and is designed to be a community-focused experience. Attendees can enjoy food stalls, markets, workshops, and family-friendly zones. The festival is made possible through the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Tenerife Island Council, and the La Laguna City Council. Under the slogan "Caring for the Nest," the festival aims to promote tourism while respecting the local environment and supporting Canary Islands' artists.
