La Laguna Historic Center Faces San Silvestre Traffic, Parking Bans
The 42nd San Silvestre La Lagunera race on December 31, 2025, will cause significant traffic and parking restrictions in San Cristóbal de La Laguna's historic center.
The 42nd San Silvestre La Lagunera race, set for Wednesday, December 31, 2025, will cause major traffic and parking restrictions in San Cristóbal de La Laguna's historic center. The City Council announced this in an official notice.
This popular sporting event, one of the busiest on Tenerife's Christmas calendar, will require many downtown streets to close to traffic for several hours. This is to ensure the safety of both participants and spectators.
Traffic restrictions will be in place from 3:30 PM until the event finishes. The biggest impact is expected between 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM, which is when the main adult race takes place.
During these hours, vehicles will not be allowed on any roads that are part of the race route, nor on intersecting streets that lead directly to it. Necessary detours will be set up as the event progresses.
The adult race, a single lap, will start and finish at Plaza de la Concepción. It will run through well-known streets in the historic center, including Adelantado, Marqués de Celada, Herradores, Viana, Quintín Benito, Tabares de Cala, and Obispo Rey Redondo. It will also cover areas like Plaza del Cristo, Camino Las Peras, Madre del Agua, and Avenida República de Argentina.
The City Council advises residents to plan their journeys ahead of time and use alternative routes during the race.
In addition to road closures, parking will be banned for vehicles from 10:00 AM until the end of the event on all roads along the route. This is to help with setting up, running the event smoothly, and ensuring security.
The City Council warns that any cars parked illegally may be towed away.
The official notice also includes a special area reserved for taxis. From 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, parking will be prohibited for other vehicles on the left side of San Antonio Street, between Maya and 6 de Diciembre streets. This section will be used exclusively for taxi services.
La Laguna City Council reminds everyone that the road closing and opening times might change if traffic conditions, the progress of the event, or security reasons require it.
The 42nd San Silvestre La Lagunera will once again transform the historic center into a lively sports and festive space to say goodbye to the year, thanks to the cooperation of residents, runners, and local services.
