The La Laguna City Council will feature popular speaker Elsa Punset for its International Women's Day program, focusing on emotional education and gender equality with her talk 'What We Have Conquered and What Is Yet to Come' on March 9 at the Teatro Leal.
The La Laguna City Council is focusing on emotional education for its program celebrating International Women's Day on March 8. The main event will feature popular speaker Elsa Punset, who will give a key talk on Monday, March 9, at the Teatro Leal, starting at 7:30 PM. Titled ‘What We Have Conquered and What Is Yet to Come,’ the event aims to explore the progress and ongoing challenges in gender equality.
Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez explained that choosing Elsa Punset for this program highlights the city's commitment to equality, which he believes is built on emotional education and shared responsibility. He stressed the importance of recognizing social achievements and preventing any rollback of established rights. Councillor for Equality, Dailos González, added that these activities aim to encourage critical thinking, foster constructive discussions, and prompt reflection on ongoing threats to equality in certain areas of society, which require a firm stance. González also emphasized the need to eliminate language and expressions that undermine women's freedoms and rights, stating that protecting and enhancing these is a collective responsibility.
Elsa Punset, a well-known speaker with over 2.5 million readers, will discuss the challenges women have overcome, the lessons still to be learned, and the difficulties they face in today's world. Her presentation will combine practical tools, critical thinking, and personal experience to explore topics such as managing emotions, building healthy social relationships, the right to set boundaries without guilt, and the importance of strengthening support and well-being networks. After the talk, a book signing will be held in the lobby of the Teatro Leal. Those interested in attending can purchase tickets through the provided link.
