2,800 flowers were planted in La Laguna, but they are being stolen: patrols have been increased, with fines of up to 540 euros.
As part of the autumn landscaping, 2,800 petunias and begonias were planted in La Laguna, but due to theft and vandalism, the municipality has increased patrols and is reminding people of fines of up to 540 euros.
In La Laguna, the city council, through its municipal services, has undertaken autumn landscaping.
According to Fran Hernández, who is responsible for this area, 2,800 petunias and begonias have been planted in the city's flowerbeds and parks. This is part of an annual plan to renew the flowers three times a year – in September, January and May.
Unfortunately, about 20% of the planted flowers disappear – they are stolen or destroyed.
Therefore, recently, the municipal services, together with the police, under the leadership of Badel Albelo, have increased patrols. Disciplinary proceedings are opened for vandalism and theft of flowers.
The councillor reminded that such actions are punishable by fines of up to 540 euros.
