La Laguna City Council has merged its Culture and Festivities departments under the leadership of Dailos González following the resignation of Culture Councilor Adrián del Castillo.
La Laguna City Council is reshuffling its leadership team following the resignation of Culture Councilor Adrián del Castillo. Del Castillo has stepped down to focus on professional commitments outside of local government, prompting Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez to reorganize his cabinet.
To fill the vacancy, the council is merging the Culture and Festivities departments. Dailos González, who previously led the Department of Festivities, will now oversee both areas. As part of this new role, González will also serve as president of the Autonomous Organism of Musical Activities, a central body for the city’s cultural programming.
Mayor Gutiérrez expressed his support for the transition, noting that González’s experience in managing large-scale events makes him well-suited for the expanded role. The mayor also thanked Del Castillo for his contributions, describing his work as a key part of the current administration’s goals.
By combining these two departments, the city aims to improve coordination between festive events and the municipality’s regular cultural offerings. This move is intended to streamline operations and ensure that public resources are used more effectively as the government continues its current agenda.
