La Laguna City Council has approved a plan to hire 72 new staff members, including 55 public positions and 17 internal promotions, to fill vacancies and enhance municipal services.
La Laguna City Council has approved a plan to hire 72 new staff members. Of these, 55 jobs are open to the public, and 17 are for current employees seeking promotion. The official announcement for these positions was published on Tuesday.
Mayor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez explained that the aim is to fill vacancies, mostly due to retirements, to ensure city services continue to run smoothly. He added that the goal is to create a more efficient local government, closer to its residents, and better able to meet growing service demands. The Mayor thanked the Human Resources department for their hard work in bringing this hiring initiative forward.
Carla Cabrera, the councilor overseeing this area, highlighted that the plan received unanimous approval from the staff negotiation committee. This means the city has the necessary budget and employee support to begin the selection process for these roles.
The 55 positions open to the public are available to anyone who meets the age, nationality, and qualification requirements. Among these open positions, there are 7 security guard roles and 1 pool attendant role for contract staff.
Of the 17 internal promotion positions, 6 are for contract staff, including roles such as 2 supervisors, 3 foremen, and 2 drivers. The remaining 10 positions are for permanent civil servants. These include 2 administrative assistant roles in general administration, and within the Local Police force: 1 sub-commissioner, 1 inspector, 3 sub-inspectors, and 3 officers.
