La Laguna Carnival to Host Pioneering Wine Tasting
The Tacoronte-Acentejo Designation of Origin joins La Laguna's Cultural Carnival on February 28 with "Carnival Night, Son, and Wines," a pioneering event combining wine tasting, Latin music, and local products in the Canary Islands.
The Tacoronte-Acentejo Designation of Origin is joining La Laguna's Cultural Carnival. This move, confirmed by the region's wine council, is a key part of a plan to promote local products and offer more diverse cultural events in Tenerife. The initiative, called "Carnival Night, Son, and Wines," aims to combine the island's long-standing carnival tradition with the region's excellent wines. Organizers call this a pioneering event for the Canary Islands, as it's the only carnival wine tasting in the archipelago.
The event is scheduled for next Saturday, February 28, starting at 7:00 PM, in the central Plaza de El Cristo in Aguere. The La Laguna City Council, which is organizing the event, has set up a special area for four wineries from the Tacoronte-Acentejo wine region. This helps showcase a vital part of the island's agricultural economy within a popular festival setting.
The evening will feature Latin music, with confirmed performances by Septeto Palmero, vocalist Virginia Guantanamera, and Orquesta El Bembé. Alongside the wines, there will be food stalls and rest areas, designed to ensure comfort for everyone, from young people to families, according to official sources.
This commitment to a "Cultural Carnival" highlights the aim to offer quality entertainment. Local wines will be a central feature of an event hoping to become one of the island's main attractions this weekend. The goal is not just enjoyment, but also to celebrate and promote the island's rich wine heritage during a popular festival.
